It’s simple: girls collect donations to send treats and cookies to local Hometown Heroes. “It is amazing to see how much our community supports and appreciates all that we do as first responders by putting Girl Scout cookies in the firehouse," said one first responder.

Girl Scout Treats and Cookies mean a lot to the heroes who keep us safe and help girls learn skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives. Whether sending cookies to fire or police stations, deployed military, veterans, children’s hospitals, or local food banks, Girl Scout cookies are sure to let someone know how much they’re appreciated.

Your troop can work with area businesses to collect donations, hold Hometown Heroes cookie booths, or walk their neighborhoods as a caravan and pass out donation cards to send to your local heroes. Troops will earn $.70 to $.80 per package. Large Hometown Heroes donations are tax-deductible.

Individual Girl Scouts are welcome to continue selling Girl Scout Cookies for camp credit. The profit of $15 for every 25 packages sold will benefit the individual Girl Scout, and the money will be placed on a GSHOM Credit Card to be used exclusively for Overnight, Day and Volunteer-led Camps. If you are interested, please contact your Regional Product Program Specialist.

Here's how to participate:

  1. Contact your Regional Product Program Specialist and we can help set-up booths and caravans. Deadline for individual sales and payments is May 30th.
  2. Sign permission slip to participate in the program as an individual Girl Scout.
  3. All profits of $15 for every 25 packages sold will be placed on a GSHOM credit card to be used only for Camp to include Day Camp, Overnight or one of our Volunteer-led Camps.
  4. Check out preset amount of cookies from the Regional Cookie Cupboard.
  5. Attend your booth or caravan sale, sell door-to-door. Have change on hand for your sales.
  6. Return any unsold cookies after the sale during your Regional Cookie Cupboard hours. You are welcome to request another sale.
  7. Your GSHOM Credit Card will be available in your Regional Center within one week of your sale. Your card will expire May 1, 2018.

We are very excited to offer this opportunity to our girls. We hope this is a great benefit to you so that you may enjoy our many amazing Girl Scout camping opportunities!

Annual Troop Paperwork

Annual paperwork, due on June 1st, consists of three pieces of information that Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan collects from every troop. Timely completion of paperwork is greatly appreciated and ensures a great start for the next membership year. These documents can be found under Annual Troop Paperwork here.

  • Annual Troop Financial Report
    • This document is comprised of three parts; the finance report sheet, checkbook register sheet and bank statement. Please make sure to complete all parts and submit to your Area Manager or Membership Specialist. Check out this video that walks you through this document!
The financial report allows for checks and balances and to ensure troop funds are being managed correctly. Staying up-to-date with your troop’s finances is important, and as girls get older, they can help complete the forms for the troop. When you turn in this report, please also include a current bank statement. Hint! There are two specific lines dedicated to product program, so keep your receipts and know your sales totals.
  • Volunteer Annual Review
    • The volunteer annual review is an opportunity for volunteers to reflect back on their Girl Scout year thus far. You may do this at a meeting with your Area Manager and/or Membership Specialist. The Volunteer Annual Review form is intended to be a two-way conversation to address any concerns, suggestions, and future plans for the troop leadership.
  • Troop Projection
    • This is a troop roster with notes as to whether or not the girls in your troop are continuing, if they are bridging and to what level. This document is not found online, it will be provided to you by your Membership Specialist or Area Manager.

Resource Guides: Leading Challenging Conversations w/Girls

Sometimes girls just need to talk it out.

Current events can be unsettling for kids. Maintaining friendships and getting along at school can be tough. It's important that girls feel comfortable and supported during these conversations.

These newly developed resources can help volunteers, parents, and other caregivers guide the conversation, while keeping it girl-led.
