Hey Cassava Fam,
Every month, over 15,000 books are published in the UK alone. Bring other countries into the mix and that’s a daunting number of books waiting to be read! Book influencers and celeb bookclubs are constantly sharing the next best thing everyone is reading, leaving readers scrambling to keep up with the Joneses.
Book FOMO is real, but the urge to be part of the book zeitgeist can mean not taking enough time to appreciate the books we have already read. After all, the best books are the ones that can stand the test of time. When was the last time you re-read your favourite book – or made time for that book you bought but never read?
A lot of people avoid re-reading, either through lack of time or because they would rather seek something new. But what if we told you there’s always something new to discover in that already read book? From details you missed, to your own changed perspective, no two book reading experiences are identical. Think of it like putting on an old piece of clothing you found in the back of your wardrobe, or reconnecting with an old friend.
What are the Cassava Republic old-time favourites on your “to-be-reread list” this Damina Season? Let us know your picks on social media using the hashtag #CRPBacklist! Looking for some inspiration? Here are some of the books from our stable that we have recently re-read: German Calendar, No December, A Stranger's Prose, Like A Mule Bringing Ice Cream To The Sun, Be(com)ing Nigerian: A Guide.
