In a recent academic article, the health properties and benefits of Rooibos were examined. Evidence related to the health aspects of drinking Rooibos tea is advancing, but does not appear to have been collated. Therefore, the researchers aimed to examine the health effects of Rooibos tea through a systematic review of the literature.
Seven human studies and 49 laboratory studies were identified. Overall Rooibos tea consumption seems to benefit the lipid and redox profiles of those at risk of cardiovascular disease. It also appears to possess other promising ‘general’ effects on glycaemic control, bone, liver, cognitive and respiratory health.

| Ceder’s, a distilled non-alcoholic, juniper-led craft gin had announced its launch in the USA, following the brand’s successful introduction to the U.K market in 2018 and subsequent international expansion to over 24 markets, with the most recent addition of Canada this past August.
We were pleased to see that one of the gins in their latest range, specifically designed for the USA market, includes a Rooibos-infused offering! This particular gin is called Ceder’s Wild. It combines Rooibos with ginger and cloves to deliver an earthy, delicious flavour like no other.
Ceder’s is made from classic gin and exotic botanicals unique to South Africa’s Cederberg mountains. Created by husband and wife duo Craig Hutchinson and Maria Sehlstrom, the idea for Ceder’s was inspired by a visit to Craig’s homeland, South Africa. While visiting the Cederberg mountains of the Western Cape, the couple was drawn to the intriguing indigenous natural botanicals and came up with the idea to distill them into a non-alcoholic alternative to gin in Sweden, where Maria is from. These South African botanicals are combined with pristine Swedish water and bottled in Sweden to create a unique product that provides all the flavor of gin without the alcohol. It is the first alt-gin with four distinct juniper- led flavored drinks.

| The popular and authoritative medical news website, Medical News Today, has recently published an article on the best alternatives to caffeinated drinks. Although caffeine, when taken in moderation, does not pose harmful effects to those who drink it, it can become addictive and lead to health issues later in life. Thus, finding an alternative to caffeine-based drinks is advisable.
Medical News Today mentioned Rooibos tea as one of the best alternatives to caffeine in this piece. In particular, they said that coffee and tea both contain tannins. Despite having some antioxidant properties, tannins also inhibit the amount of iron that a person can absorb, potentially contributing to low iron levels. Rooibos tea does not have this effect because it has a low tannin content, which is why they are recommending that people try to drink more Rooibos, instead of opting for caffeine.
