Student Spotlight
Mary Claire Molloy '19
Loves About Brebeuf I love how open and loving the Brebeuf community is. In and outside of class, I’ve had so many tough conversations about pressing issues in our country and world today with my peers. That kind of open dialogue is priceless. Likewise, I feel that the Brebeuf teachers and administrators are very good at listening to student voices and giving us a platform through diversity dialogues and other student-led events. Our community is so open and unique at all levels.
Future Plans I am still deciding where I will attend college next year, but I am interested in studying journalism and politics. I want to continue to be involved in writing projects, leading retreats, and activism wherever I end up going. Favorite Class It’s hard to choose just one--I loved AP Language with Mrs. Neukum (and the independent study I have with her this year), AP Psychology with Mr. Petty, and French with Madame Martin.
Teams & Co-Curriculars - "Since Parkland" Reporter and Outreach Editor
- Writing for SincerelyMC.com
- Leading retreats
- Youth Advisory Committee member for State Senator John Ruckelshaus
Editor's Note: Mary Claire was recently featured on The Goods for her writing and work with the "Since Parkland" project. Click here to read the full story. Random Facts - I visited a movie set when I was 14.
- I love French macaroons.
- I’ve moved 3 times: Indianapolis to Baltimore, Baltimore to Bloomington, Bloomington to Indianapolis.
- My grandfather and my great-grandfather were both professional golfers.
- I don’t have a middle name.
- My cousins nicknamed me “MC Hammer” when I was younger - *can’t touch this*.
What is your current favorite show or series on tv, Netflix, etc? My favorite shows on Netflix are Stranger Things, Dark, Les Revenants (A French show Madame Martin introduced to my class this year), Parks and Rec, and The Great British Baking Show.
What is the silliest/most irrational fear you have? Spiders. Enough said.
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Either the pizza or the cinnamon bread at Cafe Patachou. You are now in your final semester at Brebeuf Jesuit. Has it sunk in yet? It has sunk in in the form of gratitude and a hint of nostalgia--I'm realizing that I won’t be around so many wonderful people, both peers and teachers, next year. I try to be really present at Brebeuf each day so that I can make the most of the time I have left.
In what way have you changed the most since your freshman year? I have become more confident and outspoken since my freshman year. I remember being so afraid of speaking up in class and being myself. Now, I’m much more comfortable with who I am and what I believe in. This has led to my writing and activism with the Brebeuf community.

spring freshman service opportunitiesFreshman service opportunities are now available for the Spring Semester! Freshman Service Days are completely voluntary and do not count towards the Community Service credit at Brebeuf. They are offered each year to start our freshmen on a path of service beginning before and going far beyond the hours which they are required to complete during their junior and senior years. This is also a great opportunity for freshmen to get to know more of their classmates outside of the classroom. Freshmen can participate in one or all of the Freshman Service Days as space allows. Class absences will be excused.
