HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

January 1: Worship @ 10 am, coffee and donuts for the New Year! No Sunday School. Nursery will be provided.  

Thanks to your routine, faithful giving throughout the years, Parkway Hills is DEBT-FREE!!  I give thanks for the way our church family has given throughout the years so that we could celebrate this moment, but our call and our work together continues.  Sunday, January 8 at 10:45 we will celebrate the faithfulness of our church and discern our next faithful step.  Founding pastor, Rev. Bruce Taylor will be our guest preacher.  I hope you mark this service on your calendar, make plans to attend, and invite someone who may have a connection to Parkway Hills.  It will be a great day of worship and celebration together.

Ring in 2023 at our New Year's Eve Lock-In! Meet at the church at 8pm; we'll wrap up with the first PHUMC worship service of the year the next morning.

We have several slots remaining for adult volunteers at our New Year's Eve Lock-In. Follow this link to get signed up or contact Geoff with any questions. These events can't happen without the ways volunteers keep us running! We also need two more drivers for the Winter Retreat due to the huge number of registrations!
As we look towards a new year, we are updating our required background checks and training for our volunteers. If you are a volunteer or wish to volunteer with our Children and/or Youth Ministries, you should receive an email about an online training through Ministry Safe. We will hold a Volunteer Training Session following the worship service on January 29. This will go over Safe Sanctuary Policies we have in place at Parkway Hills UMC along with the Ministry Safe Training. Lunch and nursery will be provided.

Through our United Methodist connection, we were able to give 500 boxes of socks to UM Churches in Vicksburg. On Christmas Day 400+ meals were distributed to homeless shelters in Vicksburg by Hawkins and Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Churches.

Welcome our New District Superintendent!
Effective July 1, 2023, Rev. Fred S. Britton will transition from district superintendency in the Tupelo District and become the new district superintendent in the West Jackson District of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church. Britton will also supervise the East Jackson District.


As part of confirmation the Bridge group will attend the Shabbat service at Beth Israel Friday, January 6. The previous confirmation class is invited to join us since they were unable to participate in this service due to Covid.

Confirmation Day apart: Saturday, January 7. Pastor Dawn will be sending out info to parents. Confirmation Sunday is January 22 during our 10:45 worship service.
Christmas Morning Brunch
A plaque was recently placed on the new bridge at the Stations of the Cross Trail in front of PHUMC. An Eagle Scout project, the bridge built by Gabriel Bordelon is dedicated to the memory of Scout Master Rick Kolar.

Prayer Quilt Ministry: meets again Monday January 9.
All the gifts collected Christmas Eve will support our Beds for Kids Ministry. Beds are built in our church basement woodshop by volunteers and delivered with mattresses and linens to area children in need. PHUMC recently received a matching grant for $5,000.00 from the Mississippi Conference Board of Global Ministries Mission Grant Committee.
