| This Sunday, May 24, we celebrate Pentecost, the 50th and last day of the Easter season. It is the day we mark as the birthday of the church and the coming of the Holy Spirit using scripture from Acts 2. The symbols of Pentecost include: Wind: the Holy Spirit came as a mighty rushing wind Flame: the Holy Spirit rested on Jesus' followers like tongues of fire Red: the official color of Pentecost reminding us of the tongues of fire Dove: symbolic of the gift of the Holy Spirit (When Jesus was baptized the Holy Spirit descended like a dove.)
We hope you will join us this Sunday at 10:45 as we celebrate Pentecost and we invite you to wear red.
A prayer for Pentecost:
O God, the Holy Spirit,
come to us, and among us;
come as the wind, and cleanse us;
come as the fire, and burn;
come as the dew, and refresh;
convict, convert, and consecrate many hearts and lives
to our great good and to thy greater glory.
Amen.

| Sunday our Lay Leader, Maggie King, shared the joyous news from our Search Team that we have finally found a new member for our team. Read the note below from Anne Marie Daniel, our new Minister of Youth and Outreach Ministries:
My name is Anne Marie Daniel, and I am so excited to begin serving as the new Minister of Youth and Outreach Ministries at Parkway Hills UMC! I have spent the past several years working in youth and family ministry in the United Methodist Church, and I am currently a certified candidate for ordained ministry as a deacon in the UMC. I am passionate about helping young people grow in their faith, ask big questions, and know that they are deeply loved by God.
My husband, Cortez, is a music teacher who teaches vocal and piano lessons, and music is a huge part of our family life! We have a two-year-old son, Tezzi, and we are also excitedly preparing to welcome our baby girl, who is due August 27th.
A few fun facts about me: I love Dr Pepper Zero, music (I sing and play trumpet), Jesus, and teenagers! I cannot wait to meet you all, get connected, and see what God has in store for this church community. See you soon!
Anne Marie and her family plan on moving the weekend of June 13 with a start date of end of June or early July. Stay tuned for all the ways you can help welcome Anne Marie and her family and aid them with this transition. To send Anne Marie a welcome email click here.

Our May Communion Offering will support the 2026 Faith Build with Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area. The plan is to rehab a home on Stonewall Street. This home was the 500th house built in honor of Elise Winter. The initial homeowner has moved into an assisted living facility and it is now time to redo the house and prepare for a new homeowner so that we don't have another home sitting idle when there are so many families that need a safe, decent, affordable home. In addition to our offering, stay tuned for Parkway Hills' work dates to aid with the build.
