Hello Dunn County 4-H Families!
Happy Fall! With the craziness of the start of a new school year, I hope everyone found time to relax with their families and friends. I appriecate everyone who took the time to re-enroll in 4-H. I realize that the timing of re-enrollment isn't convient for most families. The time you take to get your youth and yourself (if you're a volunteer) doesn't go unnoticed.
Also, a big thank you to everyone who came to the General Leaders Meeting and Record Book Judging! Judging record books is no easy task, and it really does take a village to get it done. Ann will be work on organizing and ordering the awards so we can get them to the leaders for their November meetings. It is a big job with a short turn around, and Ann is amazing at it!
We've also been taking some time at the extension office to plan some wonderful activities for you! In this month's newsletter, you will find information on:
|
- 4-H Week
- Re-Enrollment
- Project Discovery Day
- YAC Halloween Party
- Camp Counselor Applications
- Day at the Mabel
- And so much more!
|
Finally, I know many area high schools have homecoming in the next couple of weeks. I would like to which everyone a safe, enjoyable homecoming game and dance!

We are once again working with the Menomonie Theater Guild to get discount tickets for their holiday show "A Christmas Story." This is a stage adoptation of the 1983 film that follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker in 1940s Indiana as he tries to convince everyone that he needs a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas.
The Leaders Council will also be sponsoring a portion of the tickets, to bring the cost down to $8 for 4-H members, $14 for non-member youth, and $16 for adults! We are working with the theater guild to organize a special activity for us after the show.
We will be attending the Sunday, December 6th show at 2pm. We have set aside 60 tickets. They went fast last year, so sign up soon!

The beginning of the school year is stressful for everyone. This is especially true for our youngest members. The changes in routine cause big emotions that cloverbuds haven't learned how to manage.
One way to mange big emotions and help youth transition into the school year is to practice mindfulness activities.
Check out this article from Ohio State 4-H that shares mindfulness activities that are perfectly suited for your Cloverbud.

| As we kick off a new 4-H year, we're going back to the basics with our Exploring 4-H Newsletters.
When you attend your first 4-H meeting you will most likely hear the 4-H Pledge. It might take you a few meeting for you to memorize it and say with the club. This month's Exploring 4-H will help!
Learn how to intergate the four H's into the 4-H program and your daily lives.
Being new is scary. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Zac or your club leader if you have any questions. We're here to help.
