May Happenings
Thanks for your help in making Wordplay a terrific event last month. With your support, we made $35,333, making this our most successful Wordplay yet.
Here's what's in store for May:
  • Festival of Cultures, Saturday, May 14, 10am-4pm in Lee Park. This annual celebration features food, music, and performances from around the world, as well as informative booths about community resources (such a LVCA). A great day of free fun for the family.

  • Pronunciation Workshop with Steven: Steven will lead a workshop on pronunciation issues for speakers of African languages on Tuesday, May 17 at noon in our Common Ground conference room.

  • New Tutor Training, Saturday, May 21, 9:30am-4:00pm: We still have a lot of students waiting for tutors. Please pass this information along to friends who might make potential tutors. Our next training will be Saturday, July 23. Check out the full 2016 schedule

  • U.Va. Medical Center Tour, Wednesday, May 25, 10:00am: Thanks to our friends at U.Va. Medical Center for hosting a tour of the Primary Care Clinic, Family Medicine Library, and more for our students and tutors.

  • First Annual Tutor Retreat: We will be hosting our first annual tutor retreat on Saturday, June 11, 9am-2pm in the African American Heritage Center. This will be a great opportunity for tutors to develop their skills through fun and interactive workshops. Learn more (or register) here
