The spring semester starts February 2 and is just around the corner! This week, we'll be sharing important information to help you have a successful start.
We're kicking off with a reshare of the spring 2026 Financial Aid Kickoff email sent January 16 because it contains important information for students who plan to attend or apply for financial aid for the 2025-26 aid year.
In this email, you'll find the resources you need to make sure you're prepared to succeed this spring!
We cover some of the most frequently asked questions the Financial Aid Office receives at the start of each semester and have also included information about resources available to all students.
You are receiving this email because you registered for a Cypress College course for winter/spring 2026. Please disregard this email if you do not plan to attend or apply for financial aid for the 2025-26 aid year.
Students have until 11:59 p.m. on February 17 to add or drop classes. After this date, your enrolled units will be locked in and used to determine your financial aid eligibility for the winter/spring semester. Any courses added or moved off a waitlist after this deadline will not count toward financial aid eligibility.
Please note: Your award amounts (especially Pell Grant) may continue recalculating as you add and drop classes until your units are locked in on the freeze date.
| |
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) notices are emailed to students at the start of each semester. Winter/Spring 2026 notices have been sent to students who are registered.
If disqualified, your SAP notice will include why you are disqualified and instructions on how to appeal to have your aid reinstated for the spring semester.
If you've been awarded a Pell Grant, you'll receive the first half on February 6.
For more disbursement information, including the full spring disbursement schedule, FAQ, and BankMobile, please visit our Disbursement help page.
| |
*In order to be paid on the first disbursement date, the following must be met:
- Your financial aid file must be complete;
- Your home campus must be Cypress College;
- Your SAP status must be Good, Warning, or Probation;
- You must be enrolled in winter/spring 2026 courses; and
- You must be eligible for a Pell Grant.
What might affect your disbursement dates:
Completing tasks late. After February 6, your Pell Grant funds will be sent to BankMobile two Fridays after your file has been reviewed and completed.
Enrolling in late-start classes. Late-start classes can affect the amount you receive in your first disbursement as we cannot pay for late-start units until you start attending those classes.
You need to submit a SAP appeal. If you are disqualified for SAP and submit a SAP appeal, if your SAP appeal is approved you'll receive your financial aid funds two Fridays after your appeal is approved.

Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG) |
If you are receiving Cal Grant B or C for spring 2026, no additional application is required. To be considered for SSCG, you must be enrolled in at least 12 eligible units by the enrollment freeze date.
| |
Due to limited state funding, SSCG awards are issued based on eligibility, financial need, and available funds. Not all eligible students may receive an award.
Eligible students will see SSCG posted to their financial aid awards after Cal Grant disbursement on February 27.
How much will I receive?
-
Students enrolled in 12 units or more (but less than 15 units): $1,298
- Students enrolled in 15 or more units: $4,000
NEW! Important Note About Late-Start Classes
Late-start classes will not be included in the initial SSCG award calculation. If SSCG funds remain available when late-start classes begin, additional funding may be issued, but is not guaranteed. Students will be notified directly.
