NYAM’s Gloria Grants Support Spirit Traveler
|
On Saturday, April 29, NYAM hosted the Spirit Traveler Project Exhibition at The Museum of the City of New York. East Harlem artists ages 11-19 and their families shared their art, sounds, images, and experiences from Spirit Traveler Art Therapy workshops sponsored by NYAM’s Gloria Grants for East Harlem Children and Families. The Gloria Grants are named for social worker Gloria Maldonado, a beloved NYAM staff member who was dedicated to advancing health in East Harlem.

New Data: IMAGE:NYC, the Interactive Map of Aging Updated |
The Center for Healthy Aging, in partnership with CUNY Mapping Service, has recently updated IMAGE:NYC, the Interactive Map of Aging with the latest Neighborhood Tabulation Area boundaries based on data from the 2020 census. The map includes new and updated data on aging services, health facilities, voter information, and other sociodemographics, along with new features such as a wider display and updated print options. | New Work: Supporting Diversity in the Public Health Workforce |
NYAM’s Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR) has a new collaboration with the National Hispanic Health Foundation to support and evaluate Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse Public Health Workforce Program, an initiative to identify and promote innovative approaches to diversifying the public health workforce. CEAR will support the development and testing of a recruitment campaign that will use these new approaches.

Dr. Evelyn Rynkiewicz, a professor of ecology at the Fashion Institute of Technology, took her Disease Ecology class for a visit to the NYAM library. Afterwards, these students were tasked with coming up with a project based on what they saw. Inspired by pieces in the collection, this post shares some of the work that they came up with.
