Ragland Presents for Regional Groups |
Madeline Ragland, assistant vice provost for academic student services, presented at the NACADA Regions 7 and 10 conference in Albuquerque. She discussed the evolution of generative AI, best practices in academic integrity, and practical incorporations of AI to best meet the needs of today's students. Voted "Best of State" at the Arkansas Academic Advising Network (ArkAAN) 2025 conference, she went to the NACADA Conference as "Best of Arkansas."

| Dildilian Selected for Catalyze Fellowship |
Lydia Dildilian, assistant professor of painting, is one of 25 Arkansas artists who has been awarded a $10,000 practice-based fellowship through Catalyze, a program of the Mid-America Arts Alliance. The fellowship provides support for each recipient’s creative work. Dildilian will continue conducting research that involves Middle Eastern and Asian miniature painting, extending her project scope to include travel, visits to collections, and material investigations.

Eskridge Speaks on Mentorship |
Sherry Eskridge, student engagement and outreach librarian, Ellis Library, made a presentation for the Arkansas Council for Women in Higher Education Hustle Round Table virtual conference. The invited talk, on mentorship and inclusive spaces, focused on mentorship as a two-way learning street. This involves a protected relationship where a more experienced mentor provides guidance and support for a less experienced person’s professional and personal growth.

| Gustafson Lab Researches Parasites |
Research by Taylor Fiedor, environmental sciences PhD student, Sam Messinides, former molecular biosciences PhD student, and Dr. Kyle Gustafson (left), joint associate professor in biology and College of Veterinary Medicine, has been published on the evolutionary ecology of trematode parasites. Trematodes infect all species with a spine, including humans, livestock and wild animals. Their publication in Molecular Ecology provides a new framework for understanding the origins of emerging infectious diseases and how biodiversity responds to environmental change.

Brown and Post Study Piracy Issues |
Dr. Angelo Brown (left), assistant professor of criminology, and Dr. Jason Post (right), assistant research professor of geography, are collaborating on a project regarding piracy and international law. Brown made a presentation about their study of piracy off the coast of Somalia to the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences meeting in Philadelphia. They concluded the international response has been a costly yet temporary solution that suppresses attacks without addressing the underlying issues of piracy.
