School of Education Newsletter

January 19, 2021 Spring v.1

Welcome Back from Dean Barber

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the School of Education, welcome to the Spring 2021 semester. To those of you who are new to the School of Education, we are so glad you have joined us. To those of you who are continuing with us, welcome back! We are excited that you are here and one step closer toward meeting your academic and professional goals.

We know that the beginning of this semester comes as the pandemic continues to impact both our professional and personal lives, and as we continue to process the events in Washington D.C. on January 6th and throughout the post-election season. The work you do to support students and their communities is more important than ever; yet, it comes with new and ever-evolving demands. Please know that we in the School of Education and at UMKC are here to support you. Below you’ll find information on how to contact your advisors or to access campus resources; please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Please stay safe and healthy. I hope that the coming weeks and months ahead bring us good news about the vaccine roll-out and, slowly, beginning to return to our normal activities.

-
Carolyn Barber, Ph.D.
Interim Dean and Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation/Missouri Endowed Faculty Chair

Pearson Professional Assessment Vouchers and MEGA Online!

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is pleased to announce the availability of online proctoring for select assessments in the MEGA program. Online proctoring allows you to take your test securely from your home, school, or business. With just a simple check-in process—involving ID verification, face-matching technology, and a live greeter—you can test without having to travel to a test center. Please note that in order to test online, candidates must have access to a private testing area with a laptop or desktop computer (no tablets, mobile phones, or other personal devices) and adequate internet connection. For more information on testing requirements, which assessments are offered online, and general guidance use this link.
Student Services has received financial vouchers from Pearson for the Missouri Content Assessment (MoCA) and Missouri General Education Assessment (MoGEA). These financial vouchers are meant to help students who cannot afford their assessments and are limited to one per student. For information on assessments, visit the MEGA site, then make your request here!
