September Newsletter

As we move through the fall semester, the Office of Student Veterans is excited to continue to assist and support our incoming and current student population!
Thank you to all who made their way out to the Open House. We are glad to have such wonderful on- and off-campus partners who could come and support our veterans, and are glad so many of you were able to benefit from those resources.
Later this month, we have another opportunity for community building with the Opening Hail. See below for more information on the location and time for this event!
As a reminder, our office is always available for questions or concerns. Please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Warm regards,
The Duke Student Veterans Office

9/11 - A Day of Remembrance

As we send this September newsletter on September 11th or Patriot Day, the Office of Student Veterans wants to recognize and honor the service and sacrifice made by the men and women in uniform, as well as their families. The 9/11 attacks will never be forgotten, nor will the ultimate price that was paid for by first responders and those in our armed forces who were deployed as part of the Global War on Terror.

Today we pause to remember those that we lost, and we also remember the strength of our community. The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, irreparably altered both the fabric of this nation and the entire world. However, the strength and resiliency of our country’s people remain unshakeable. We recognize that this anniversary impacts everyone differently, and we encourage you to take care of yourself.
