Welcome David White, PHUMC Music Director

We are delighted that David White has accepted the permanent position of Music Director for our church. Retired after almost 30 years as an educator (22 years as band director and administrator in the Madison County School District), he is currently part-time Marching Band Assistant Director at Mississippi College and Alternate Route Student Supervisor at Mississippi State University. David and his wife Cindy have been members of PHUMC since February 8, 1998. Their daughter Sela is a junior at Mississippi State University. Leadership Team met Sunday night and reviewed our safety protocols for Covid. As a team, we decided that due to the continued high number of Covid cases in our area and state, masks will be required indoors, regardless of vaccination status, until further notice. In addition, in an effort to keep our children who cannot yet be vaccinated safe, we will follow these guidelines. If a child and/or youth who attends Sunday School tests positive for Covid the following week, we will cancel Sunday School the following Sunday out of an abundance of caution. Parents and teachers will be notified, given the start date to resume Sunday School, as well as information regarding symptoms of Covid-19. As a reminder, if you or anyone in your household is ill for any reason or presenting any symptoms of Covid-19, please stay home.

Sunday Morning Small Group Opportunities:

Grace Class: Meeting via Zoom at 9:30, however if you are at church, there is a group Zooming from church

Open Doors: Meeting via Zoom at 9:30

Renew: In person currently meeting in the Open Doors Room, first room on the right upstairs in the Education Building

Discovery Class: Meeting via Zoom.

A reminder of our Sunday morning schedule is below. If you are still a little uneasy about attending worship, I encourage you to attend our 8:30 service. There are fewer people and you will have plenty of room to space out.

For those who are out-of-town, or any who still feel safer-at-home, we continue to livestream our service on Facebook at 10:45 am, and post the service on our YouTube channel by 11 am.

Engage is our new name for our Sunday night youth activities (5:30-7:00, dinner included) a great chance for students to engage and connect with their faith, church and community.

READERS NEEDED We're disappointed we can't be in the classrooms of East Flora Elementary School this semester, but that doesn't mean we can't share the love of reading with our young friends! Allison Jordan is collecting names of those of you who will be willing to record yourselves reading a story aloud. The school librarian will keep the recordings, and be able to send them to classrooms as needed.

As of now we do not have requests for specific stories, so the possibilities are wide open! Think of a book you enjoyed as a child, or a story you would like to share with one now. (Janice Cate missreading@yahoo.com is creating a book list from which to choose if you are stumped.)
