Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Convocation - Friday, January 12
Friday, January 12 is a Convo Dress Day.
Brebeuf’s first convocation of the year is our annual MLK Convocation. This event was conceived and sponsored by our Black Student Union. Each year our community gathers to memorialize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy, reminding us of our responsibility to one another. This year is a celebration of cultural unity and black excellence through the lens of writing and afro-futurism. We are excited to announce this year’s MLK convocation speaker is author and teacher, Maurice Broaddus.
We are looking forward to joining together with our students as a community tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in the West Gym for a morning of history, reflection, and fellowship.

Brebeuf Briefings
Jay Hmurovich Wins Gold in First Decathlon Competition
Our next Briefing takes us to the track where Jay Hmurovich, current Brebeuf junior, earned the gold medal for the decathlon at Nationals for USATF (USA Track and Field) held in Geneva, OH this past summer.
After getting involved with USATF in middle school, he’s grown in both skill and number of events he participates in. Last year, he got to the point of participating in so many different events for Brebeuf’s track and field team that his coach, Mr. Brian Hamlett, encouraged him to try a decathlon, noting Jay’s athleticism and skill at track and field events, in general.
