Please help welcome our newest members, Hunter and Adrienne Aikens Both attorneys, Hunter works in the Office of the State Public Defender, and Adrienne works with Richard Schwartz and Associates. Adrienne's favorite pastimes are running and reading, while Hunter loves to hunt and fish. They enjoy cooking together, and they attend Saints games as often as possible. The Aikens can teach us a lot about Advent because they are in their own season of waiting... for their first child (a girl!) expected in early January. Hunter is from Clinton, and Adrienne hails from Columbus, but now that they live in Madison, we are thrilled they have decided to make PHUMC their church home. They are already in our instant church directory, so look them up, and help them find their own ways to worship, grow, serve and celebrate with us at Parkway Hills!
Invite all of your friends to come eat with us!
Be sure to tell them you are with Parkway Hills when you order!
I came across a graphic online that said,
“Advent, a season of seeking Christ and waiting in eager expectation.”
Yes, we wait, but our waiting is active.  Henri Nouwen said, “We know that what we are waiting for is growing from the ground on which we are standing…the secret of waiting is the faith that the seed has been planted, that something has begun…something is happening where you are and you want to be present to it.”  We wait, but as we wait, we seek because we believe God has already begun a great work, God is already present, and we don’t want to miss how God will continue to move!
This Advent season Parkway Hills invites you to wait actively. Beginning December 1st and lasting through December 28th, we will journey together through a daily devotion. If you don’t already have a small group on Sunday mornings, you are invited to join me in the Hope Class for 5 weeks as we reflect on Okoro’s work. We invite you to spend some time in reflection over what invitation you need to receive from God this season, name it, write it down on one of our Advent cards, and allow us to post it alongside those things named by your brothers and sisters in Christ. This way we hold one another in prayer by simply lifting words together to our God. And finally, we invite you to commit to worship where we may wait and seek as we sing, pray, and hear God’s Word. Below is the journey we will take together!  Maybe you could even invite a friend to join us!

A Women's Ministry Opportunity to
SERVE
this SATURDAY:
There are about a dozen residents of The Home Place, (an assisted living facility in Madison), that need someone to share the love of Christ with them this holiday season. Join Teresa Whitehead THIS Saturday, December 2nd, from 10:00 am until noon in The Garden, to create beautiful wreaths to share with these dear folks, brightening their Christmas season. Supplies will be provided, but if you have a glue gun, extra ribbon or any un-needed ornaments on hand, please bring them along to help fill out the wreaths.
For more information, contact Teresa.
