In Florida, agencies are calling for citizens to help contribute towards scientific research. Specifically, an organisation called Tea Time 4 Science is asking people to bury their used Rooibos tea bags. Once this is done, citizen scientists must mark the spot with a survey flag and note the GPS location.
Three months later, they dig the bags up, weigh them and send the results back to Tea Time 4 Change. The amount of decay will show how fast carbon is getting buried in the soil.
