From the Office of the Dean |
Happy sunny Monday, everyone!
This Dean’s newsletter finds our new College incredibly busy, as always! Since our last newsletter, we’ve hosted another Undergraduate Open House, as well as a Graduate Open House, so our dedicated faculty, student ambassadors, graduate assistants, and administrators have welcomed hundreds of prospective Pirates and helped spread the good word about our amazing academic and co-curricular programs. In addition, this past weekend SHU Theatre was the site of another fantastic production, Months on End! Our Center for Sports Media is also looking ahead to March Madness—and three more opportunities for our Pirates in the Field to cover the excitement firsthand!
But, as we all know, there is something else happening right now….midterms! I wish everyone well as they finish papers, projects and exams—or grade those papers, projects, and exams—and would just encourage all members of the CHDCM community, as always, to practice self-care in these hectic times. I know that Spring Break arrives at the end of this week, but as we navigate the exams that separate now from then, make sure that you’re taking time for self-care. These times of year can be taxing on mental health, so please don’t forget the support and resources that are available from the University: Students can find dedicated resources through Seton Hall’s Counseling and Psychological Services, available at (973) 761-9500. Campus Ministry is likewise available at (973) 761-9545. Employees may use the Employee Assistance Program by calling (877) 622-4327.
With that, I invite you to read on, and enjoy the good news and shout outs from our CHDCM community. As always, keep your good news and event notes coming, and I wish you all a happy and healthy week of midterms, followed by a wonderful, restorative, and healthy Spring Break!

Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)
Jeimy Simon, a public relations student and member of the Seton Hall chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), is leading her team in the prestigious Bateman Case Study Competition. In an interview, she shared her excitement about the challenge and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
“We’re working on a strategic campaign for EveryLibrary and the EveryLibrary Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting local libraries and fighting against book bans,” Simon explained. “This competition is an amazing opportunity for us to make our voices heard and advocate for access to knowledge.”
Simon emphasized her passion for the cause, noting how inspiring it is to see their efforts encourage others to stand up for libraries and intellectual freedom. To raise awareness about book banning, PRSSA is organizing a “Make Your Own Bookmark” event, which will help spread EveryLibrary’s message while allowing students to engage in the conversation firsthand.
Last year, PRSSA reached the finals with their campaign for Cultures Magazine, and they're excited to see how far they can go this year.
