Dear Alumni,
As the GBC President, it is my utmost pleasure to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who have graced Schulich with your presence and support throughout the years.
Your contributions have helped shape Schulich into the extraordinary place it is today. We are honoured to stand on the shoulders of giants, to walk the path paved by your accomplishments, and to carry the torch of excellence that you have passed on to us.
Your achievements serve as a constant reminder that with hard work, dedication, and passion, we can achieve greatness in our chosen endeavours. Being part of the alumni community means being part of something much greater than ourselves. It means upholding the values and traditions that have defined Schulich for generations. It means becoming a part of a global network of individuals who are making a difference in their communities and industries.
As the graduating class of 2023, we are excited to be part of the strong alumni community. Together, we can create a legacy that will inspire future generations and leave an indelible mark on the world. Schulich congratulates more than 700 new graduates this Spring and we celebrated this milestone during the Convocation ceremony held on June 23, 2023. Fatima Israel (MBA '06) addressed our graduating students with words full of inspiration and passion that left a lasting impression on our newest group of alumni. | Celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day
| |
We are pleased to announce that Kristin Murray has been appointed Executive-in-Residence on Indigenous Initiatives at Schulich. Kristin is the former Mayor of Timmins, Ontario. A proud member of the Chapleau Cree First Nation, Kristin is a strong advocate and specializes in Indigenous knowledge sharing, intersectional diversity and Afro-Indigenous identity.
In her new Executive-in-Residence role at Schulich, Kristin will help us in our ongoing efforts to make our School a more welcoming and inclusive place for Indigenous peoples. She will also serve as a bridge to connect Schulich to various First Nation leaders and will help with outreach and engagement with Indigenous communities.

| Dr. L.O. Bradley Honoured with Legacy Scholarship
| |
| Schulich is proud to announce the establishment of the Dr. L. O. Bradley Leadership Entrance Award, a $250,000 legacy scholarship in honour of the late Dr. L.O. Bradley. The Award will support two Master of Health Industry Administration (MHIA) students with $12,500 each. These outstanding students will have shown leadership, innovation, and community involvement, attracting top health industry talents to Schulich. Read more about Dr. L.O. | Marcia Annisette Receives University Professor Honour
| |
| We are delighted to share that Marcia Annisette, Professor of Accounting received the honour of University Professor during the Schulich School of Business Convocation Ceremony on June 23, 2023.
Professor Annisette is an outstanding scholar, teacher and administrator who has attained international recognition for her research and made important contributions to our institution. This highly prestigious honour is in recognition of her great achievements and her lasting contributions.

| New research shows women-led startups are evaluated less favourably than men-led startups because of “benevolent sexism.” This research was co-authored by Ivona Hideg, Associate Professor and Ann Brown Chair in Organization Studies at the Schulich School of Business, Yuval Engel, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Amsterdam Business School, Frédéric Godart, Associate Professor of Organizational Behaviour at INSEAD, and Nhu Nguyen, a Ph.D. student in Organizational Behaviour at the Desautels Faculty of Management. | New research co-authored by Geoffrey M. Kistruck, Professor and RBC Chair in Social Innovation & Impact at the Schulich School of Business shows that “growth mindset training” – the powerful awareness that abilities can improve through experimentation and failure – can make entrepreneurs more confident and action-oriented. | New research, co-authored by Linda Thorne, Professor of Accounting at the Schulich School of Business, two former PhD students at Schulich, Pier-Luc Nappert, an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Laval University, Carolyn McTavish, an Associate Professor of Accounting at Wilfrid Laurier University, and Sameera Hassan, a current Schulich PhD student shows that the likelihood of professional accountants reporting illegal acts by their employers or clients will increase as a result of new, explicit wording that has been added to an international code of ethics. On June 20, 2023, we hosted our annual Women in Business event at KPMG in Toronto, where we saw over 100 attendees, including alumni, current students, and prospective students come together. It was an empowering gathering that showcased the strength and ambition of our community.
Our keynote speaker, Anna Maria Ewing (MBA '88), shared her inspiring journey that started in the bustling streets of New York City, working at one the world's largest financial firms, Merrill Lynch, where she played a pivotal role in harnessing the power of technology. Anna is currently one of the founding members of Schulich’s Advisory Council for our newest Tech MBA program.
