Dear friends,
As we move deeper into the fall semester, I'm struck by the energy and purpose across our campus. The spirit of family, service and faith that defines St. Mary's Law unites us and extends far beyond our campus walls, as we put our Catholic and Marianist values into action.
Welcoming new faculty

|
This year, we proudly welcomed eight new faculty members who bring diverse expertise and fresh perspectives to our community. They are approaching their roles with the dedication to students and commitment to preparing practice-ready lawyers that is the hallmark of a St. Mary's Law education. Their arrival strengthens our mission and enriches our community in meaningful ways. Please learn more about them below.
Hispanic Heritage Month highlights
As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we recently hosted the inspiring fourth annual Lawtina Network Summit. This remarkable gathering brought together more than 250 leaders and future lawyers, creating connections and opportunities that will resonate throughout their careers. The summit showcased our unwavering commitment to empowering Latina legal professionals and exemplified our mission to educate leaders who transform society.
October traditions
Looking ahead in October, we anticipate two cherished traditions that anchor our community in purpose and gratitude.
First, we will celebrate Red Mass, at which St. Mary's Law and the Catholic Lawyers' Guild of San Antonio will uphold our 73-year tradition recognizing the fall start of the judicial year. Together, we will ask for God's blessings upon our legal community and pray for wisdom in our roles within the judicial system.
Second, our Distinguished Law Graduate Dinner will honor three exceptional members of our St. Mary's family. The Law Alumni Association will recognize the Hon. Kathleen Cardone (J.D. ’79), U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Texas; Joe A. Gamez (J.D. ’73), Founder of Joe A. Gamez Law; and Lara Brock (J.D. ’14), Senior Partner Attorney at Espinoza & Brock, for their outstanding service to clients, the legal community and St. Mary's. We will also bestow a Marianist Law Legacy Award to our Law Chaplain, Sister Grace Walle, F.M.I., D.Min. (B.A. ’77), whose dedication embodies our deepest values and enriches the legal education we provide. These events remind us that we are called to embody excellence in law and to serve with integrity and compassion.
Stay connected
Our commitment to staying connected continues with alumni events throughout the year. I encourage you to participate and strengthen the bonds that make St. Mary's special. Together, we are the St. Mary's family, united in faith, service and the pursuit of justice.
Viva St. Mary's!

Become part of the School of Law Dean's Circle |
Your generosity plays a vital role in supporting our students and the success of the St. Mary’s University School of Law. While a gift of any amount means you are a valued donor to the law school, a gift of $1,000 or more makes you a member of the Dean’s Circle.
Use the Give Now button to dedicate your gift to any area of the School of Law you wish to support, such as the Law School Annual Scholarship Fund, the Dean’s Fund and many other areas.
