It's Disability Week @ UMKC
|

Disability Week kicks off from October 14th through the 17th, bringing together community partners and regional organizations to UMKC for a celebration of the creativity, knowledge, and innovations that stem from shared experiences. This dynamic week will feature a standing art exhibit, performances, panels, and workshops designed to spark conversations, build community, and amplify voices.

Facilitated by Matthew Edwards, join us for a series of engaging small group sessions focused on enhancing accessibility in teaching and learning. Participants will explore equitable community strategies, develop personal narratives to foster inclusive classroom cultures, and examine the historical barriers to education.

Designing Writing Assignments for Maximum Learning

Join Marcus Meade at CAFE and online on October 23rd from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a hybrid workshop on creating effective writing assignments!
Writing projects are not just opportunities for students to perform competence. They're also sites of learning that allow students to practice skills and habits of mind associated with course outcomes. This workshop will focus on developing writing assignments as sites of learning and center principles of good writing pedagogy to help make assignment design more effective and efficient for faculty.
