UMA Ellsworth Center will be closed in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day Monday October 11, 2021
There will be no classes on the 11th but the Center will be open regular hours for student use on October 12th during the Fall break.

To commemorate the day, the award winning movie 'Dawnland' and 'Dear Georgina' both with social and historical themes are being shown remotely through Peabody Essex Museum. Afterwards, there will be a live Q & A . There is no cost but a donation is suggested

Domestic Violence Installation at UMA Ellsworth Center
On October 15, Finding Our Voices, Next Step Domestic Violence Project and the Student Association will hang posters around the Ellsworth community to bring awareness to Domestic Violence in our communities. Monhegan Island Photography Day Trip
Are you entering the Student Life photography contest? (See 'Worth Reviewing' in this newsletter) Spend the day on Monhegan Island with fellow UMA students exploring nature photography. With rugged cliffs, dense woods, numerous ocean-side trails, and a small village, Monhegan Island provides plenty of opportunities to experience nature and art through photography. Not led by a professional photographer, we will simply be a group with an interest in nature photography, sharing our enthusiasm, tips, and practices. Beginners are welcome.

*Tap into your local Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) Advisor, Shelbie Ross, to help you develop a full financial aid action plan. MEOC can help you navigate through the steps to land an optimum level for funding. MEOC is funded to help students access and complete an undergraduate education.
If you already hold a Baccalaureate Degree, please plan to use the Education Division of the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) to develop your college/graduate school funding plan with Nikki Vachon as a key contact. Fully trained staff are available to you for any questions you might have. Already feeling secure about your understanding of Financial Aid but just have a question or two on your FAFSA? Schedule with FAME or call at 800-228-3734.
Please remember to file your 22-23 the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) through the Dept. of Education website ASAP (by the end of October encouraged). You will need your 2020 tax return to complete. Anchor your baseline of funding and position your pursuit of additional funds to have an optimum impact by completing it now.

The Cupboard is open every day that the Center is open. A selection of food, household and hygiene products are available.
