| Travel Update: New Bag Fee and Other Changes Coming to Southwest Airlines |
In March, Southwest Airlines announced several changes to offerings and policies. These changes could impact the cost of university-sponsored travel.
Beginning with flights booked on or after Wednesday, only Southwest Rewards status members and other select customers will be offered free checked bags. Customers who are not eligible for free checked bags will be charged a fee. Southwest also announced changes to fares and flight credits.
Additionally, all of the Southwest Airlines travel rebate funds announced in a May 19 KU Travel Services message have been used, and no more funds are available.
KU Travel Services thanks all campus travelers who booked in Concur or with CTP agents this year, which allowed the university to reach its contract spend goals. Watch for announcements about other benefits on the KU Travel website.
