Enjoy a Sewanee Tradition

Each year, the University of the South's Celebration of Lessons & Carols is one of the most coveted tickets in town. This year, the celebration is being made available online to the public. The service will be available for viewing and download on Sunday, December 6 at 7 p.m. The Sewanee performance regularly attracts 3,000 visitors and has been featured in Southern Living Magazine.

Stay tuned for A Down Home Revels, an SAS celebration of the season in music and poetry.

Exams, Dec 7-11

Exams take place the week of December 7-11. On Monday, our Reading Day, teachers will be available for extra help and review sessions scheduled according to discipline. Exams take place Tuesday-Friday. Sixth graders will have their last exam on Thursday. Exams will take a variety of forms and will be designed for the online space.

Do you anticipate technical difficulties?

Students are required to be in Zoom and have their camera ON while taking their exams. Please be sure your child is able to take their exams in a location that has the internet bandwidth to support online testing with cameras on. Day families who experience internet connectivity issues due to geographical location, may reserve a testing location at school IN ADVANCE by contacting Assistant to the Academic Dean Shawna Midgett.

Study Tips

Academic Dean Kelley Black and Learning Resources Coordinator Kim Perkins have compiled Tips for Preparing for Exams including a worksheet to help students schedule their study sessions and illustrated guides to Spaced Practice and Retrieval Practice. We encourage students to begin studying 4-6 days before ther exam takes place.

Students in grades 10-12 who are beginning a new course second semester may need additional books. MBS, our online bookstore, is now open for book purchases.

New Overnight Camp!

Looking for a great gift idea? How about 17 fun-filled summer days on the Mountain for your favorite rising 5th-12th grader? Campers will select from a variety of music, art, farming, and outdoor adventure sessions. Congratulations and thank you to Tyler Rodgers '22 who has answered a call to serve in the Tennessee Army National Guard while completing high school. Tyler will train on weekends and in the summers as he completes high school.

What will testing look like when we return for second semster?

SAS will be using the University of the South's testing facility during second semester. We do not yet have a schedule for our re-entry testing, but we will get that to you before classes resume in January.
