Bishops issue statement on execution
The Catholic bishops of the three dioceses in Tennessee issued this statement on August 15 once again reaffirming their opposition to capital punishment, based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and proclamations by St. John Paul II and Pope Francis.

Bishop Stika meets with seminarians
Bishop Richard F. Stika and several Diocese of Knoxville seminarians celebrated the end of summer before the young men head back to school later this month. Bishop Stika hosted a dinner for the seminarians at the Chancery on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Polish Ministry to celebrate Feast of Our Lady of Częstochowa 
The Diocese of Knoxville's Polish Ministry invites everyone to a celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Częstochowa, Queen of Poland, on Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m., with a potluck picnic following.
Mass is celebrated in Polish at the cathedral every first Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. 

Several churches, groups joining 
There is energy in the pro-life movement in the Diocese of Knoxville! Nineteen churches and six organizations have already signed up to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign, which will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Nov. 3, in front of the Planned Parenthood clinic at 710 N. How to Reconnect Our Digitally Distracted Kids
The Catholic Schools Office is hosting Thomas Kersting on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Knoxville Catholic High School. Mr. Kersting is a former school counselor who now shares his expertise on mental health, families, parenting in the digital age, and over-device use. He will be speaking to parents about how today's kids are being shaped by their electronic devices and technology's effects on "real-life" issues, creating anxiety, attention deficit, depression, and social, academic, and family relationship problems. This event is free and open to all.
Registration for RCIA conferences now open
The Association for Catechumenal Ministry and the Diocese of Knoxville Office of Christian Formation are offering two RCIA conferences this fall for RCIA coordinators and team members. “Strategies to Have a Great Neophyte Year” will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. Mary Church in Johnson City.  “Finding, Training, and Working with Sponsors” will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at St. Jude Church in Chattanooga.
Diocesan podcasts can teach, uplift
Podcasts are easy to listen to and provide a break from radio clutter. The Diocese of Knoxville offers many useful podcasts that teach listeners about the Catholic faith. Cardinal Justin Rigali's podcast features homilies and reflections from his many years of service to the Church. Sister Anna Marie McGuan, RSM, shares her passion for teaching Scripture and takes you on a journey through the Bible from a Catholic perspective on Scripture and the Spiritual Life. Hosts Jim Wogan and Emily Booker share stories from people and parishes across East Tennessee on Inside the Diocese of Knoxville.  
Catholic Charities luncheon to feature Phillip Fulmer
The annual 365 Days of Hope Luncheon offers networking opportunities to business leaders in the Knoxville area and helps support the work of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee. This year’s luncheon will feature special guest speaker Phillip Fulmer, a former national championship Vols head football coach and the current director of athletics at the University of Tennessee. Catholic Leadership Training
workshop for Hispanic Ministry 


Following priorities identified in the V Encuentro process, the Office of Hispanic Ministry invites you to attend a Catholic Leadership Training workshop on Saturday, Sept. 7. Whether you participate in a ministry or not, you are welcome. Training will be held at the All Saints Church parish hall in Knoxville from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A $25 donation is requested to cover lunch and a light breakfast. Dr. Jaime Padro founder of
