Welcome to the first edition of the 2022-23 school year’s Warrior Family Association e-newsletter. As I enter my sixth year as first mom at Indiana Tech, I know that there is no place I would rather be. I hope my love for Tech and the publication of these e-newsletters provide you with not only the events taking place on campus, but the feeling of being part of our Warrior family. A special hello to the freshman parents and parents of transfer students. My hope is that this newsletter will be a valuable resource for you.
Friday, Aug. 19, is the official move-in day for new students. Our faculty, staff and students do a great job helping students move in. I will be around in the morning, and I am looking forward to meeting some of you. I will also be having a parent reception at 3:30 p.m. in the Abbott Welcome Center. Whether you are a new parent or a returning parent, feel free to stop by for some refreshments and conversation.

New Student Orientation and Welcome Week
Your student’s move toward a successful and fulfilling collegiate experience at Indiana Tech begins with Warrior Orientation 2022. During this time, your student will meet fellow students, get to know faculty and staff and learn about all the resources that are available to help them thrive while they are here. Students can navigate orientation on their phone with the Guidebook app.
With the Guidebook app, students will find things they need to do before they arrive, where they can park at Indiana Tech, a map of campus and other Warrior resources and a full schedule of Orientation and Welcome Week events
Welcome Week is an opportunity to celebrate the start of a new academic year and meet new friends or get reacquainted with old ones. The Office of Student Engagement has so many different events planned that students are sure to find something they’ll enjoy. Some of the events require advanced signup due to limited capacity. Students can find more details and sign up for events on the Commons 803 website or the mobile version of Commons 803—the CORQ app! Encourage your student to download the CORQ app to their phone to get a jumpstart on signing up for events and staying in the know about what’s happening on campus all year!
The Welcome Week schedule can also be found on the Indiana Tech website using the QR code above or this link.

Parking
With the new school year comes new parking permits! Students should go to indianatech.thepermitstore.com to create an account or access their old account to order a permit for this school year. If your student is living on campus, they should use their residence hall address and order a resident permit. If your student is driving from off campus, they will need to order a commuter permit. If there are any questions, please reach out to parking@indianatech.edu.
Visitors to the college may stop by the Safety and Security Office on the first floor of Andorfer Commons to get a 24-hour parking pass. There is no cost to get a temporary and visitors will be able to park in the commuter lots.

On-Campus Student Employment
Is your student planning to work during the school year? Consider on-campus employment! On-campus employment means students never have to worry about a long commute or class schedule interfering with their work schedule! We value our students and want to help them advance their skills while the focus remains on their education. They can begin building professional relationships in our Warrior community, enhance their work experience and start preparing to reach their career goals. To be eligible for On-Campus employment students must be currently registered at Indiana Tech, authorized to work in the United States, and must submit a completed application with a resume. To check out our listing of open positions and to apply, click HERE.
If your student plans to work while attending school, make sure they bring two forms of acceptable identification from this list: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents

Final thoughts from a fellow mom
Karl and I had a great summer. We were able to visit a few of our students and their families as we traveled within the United States and to Canada. It is always special seeing our students where they grew up.
Thomas has been home with us this summer, but we will be taking him to New York City at the end of the month. He will be moving into his tiny, tiny dorm room in Manhattan. We had the opportunity to take a tour of his dormitory and we walked around Columbia’s campus. This is going to be an exciting adventure for him.
Nicholas is still living in Pittsburgh and looking for a full-time job. In the meantime, he continues to spend his free time at climbing gyms and playing volleyball. When he came to visit this past spring, Karl, Nicholas and I played in an intramural volleyball tournament at Tech. We didn’t win, but we had lots of fun.
As always, please let President Einolf or I know if there is anything we can do to help ensure your student’s success. Please remember to reach out if you are visiting campus as I would love to meet you for coffee and conversation. My email is mgeinolf@indianatech.edu.
