Fall residence hall closing information
Fall residence hall closing information
Friday, Nov. 13, 2020
When we began the fall semester, we had a shared goal: keep our community safe and finish classes together. This week the entire Bryant community has much to be proud of. WE DID IT!
Under extremely challenging external conditions, we have had a strong semester of active learning and enriching student life programs. This is thanks to the dedication and commitment of our students, faculty and staff. Bryant has conducted more than 60,000 COVID surveillance tests with full population testing every week and an extremely low overall test positivity rate. Our positive cases most frequently came from exposure off campus and often among those already in quarantine.
This is our last week with a full set of tests and representative data, so with today’s update we will pause weekly reporting of our test positivity rate until we begin spring semester classes on campus.
As you depart from campus, finish strong and stay strong. Cases of COVID-19 are climbing throughout the region and around the world. Please continue to take every precaution to stay healthy by remaining vigilant and following best practices including masking, social distancing, frequent hand washing and avoiding gatherings that create risk of exposure to the virus.
We wish everyone a healthy Wintersession break with loved ones and will continue to communicate and keep you informed as we plan to welcome everyone back on campus for the spring term.
MAC Testing Center Hours
Starting on Monday, Nov. 16, hours for the campus surveillance testing clinic in the MAC will be Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
In advance of their departure from campus, students who are currently testing once per week will have the opportunity to transition to testing twice weekly until they depart from campus. A final COVID test is required within 24 hours before student departure. To avoid overcrowding in the MAC Testing Center, the student test schedule is:
  • First-year students: Mondays and Fridays
  • Sophomores and Juniors: Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Seniors: Mondays and Wednesdays
If your test schedule does not align with your planned departure date to give you a test within 24 hours of when you will leave, you can use the COVID Bookings app to schedule an alternate time.
The testing center will be closed Nov. 25-27.
Fall Residence Hall Closing Information
Resident students should tell their RA if their departure date has changed.
All students must vacate their residence hall no later than 24 hours after their last final exam and no later than 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Only students who reside in the Holiday Inn Express and Suites will need to move-out completely. All students living on campus may keep belongings in their room over the winter break but will not be able to access their room over the break. We encourage students to bring any items they may need over the break home. Frequently forgotten items include textbooks, laptops, medications, passports/ID, and eyeglasses/contact lenses.
Students are permitted to have two family members assist with their move-out. Family members should complete the Health Checker App to enter campus, must wear a mask, and practice social distancing while on campus and in the residence halls. Families are expected to adhere to a three- hour timeframe from their arrival during the move-out process.
In January, students will receive details regarding scheduling their move-in appointment for the Spring 2021 semester. Students will select a move-in date from Saturday, Feb. 6, Sunday, Feb. 7, or Monday, Feb. 8. All students will have a three-hour time frame to move-in and can bring two family members to assist.
Health Services
Nov. 30 - Jan. 15, Health Services will offer in-person clinical hours, 9 a.m. -3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with remote telehealth on Tuesday and Thursday. Health Services will be closed Dec. 21-Jan. 1 and Jan. 18.
Campus Parking During Wintersession
Any students, faculty or staff planning to leave a vehicle on campus during Wintersession must move the vehicle to Lot N. This is to allow Facilities staff and external vendors room to clear any snow in the main parking lots that may accumulate during this period. To get to Lot N, take the first sharp left after the Entry Control Station as you enter campus. Lot N will be on your left, opposite the Town Houses. Thank you for your cooperation. Vehicles that are left unattended in any other lot during this period may be subject to tow at the owner’s expense.
