What's New with PDX Next: Opening Date, Bag Road and Ticket Lobby
New Main Terminal Opening Date: In early April, we shared that the new spaces at PDX will start opening in August. Now we're back with specifics: The opening date is set for Wednesday, Aug. 14. Between now and then, there will be lots of opportunities to test out the new space and celebrate what our community created together. Stay tuned for ways to get involved and go behind the scenes!
Main Bag Road: As a reminder, there’s a lot of work happening on main bag road, with multiple crews at all hours. If you drive on that road, make sure to use extra caution and practice safe driving protocols.
Ticket Lobby: Now until Thursday, May 30, during overnight hours, crews will build a temporary emergency egress vestibule along the window wall in the south ticket lobby behind the common use kiosks. All work will take place behind the edge guard wall and there may be elevated noise levels.
Crews are working on removing one counter position and extending the temporary wall at the Delta ticket counter to the north to facilitate build-out of the future south throat. There may be elevated noise levels through the project's target completion date of Monday, May 13.

Guess Who’s Coming to PDX?!
In the coming weeks, we’re sharing some short video intros to the 12 local shops coming to the new main terminal. This coffee brand is named after a Portland nickname and will open its next PDX location this summer. Like true coffee diehards, they’ve scoured the globe for the perfect beans...it’s Stumptown Coffee Roasters! Get ready to fuel up with a fresh brew when they arrive this August.

Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
The month of May marks Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! During this month, we take time to honor and celebrate the many significant contributions of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Island people – known as the AANHPI community – who have enriched the history of our nation, of Oregon and our PDX community. As some of the fastest growing racial and ethnic groups in the nation, we celebrate all of those who are included within the AANHPI community, which is made up of culturally and linguistically diverse peoples, representing populations from many countries and islands.
On Sunday, May 19, PDX People – in partnership with the Port of Portland’s Asian Pacific Islander employee resource group – will bring Uluwehi Hālau Hula O Kapukui back to the airport for a hula performance and lei making workshop. Join us for this fun community-building event!

PDX in Pictures
We may not have flights to Tatooine, but that's never stopped us from welcoming visitors from a galaxy far, far away. On Sunday, May the 4th (aka Star Wars Day), stormtroopers invaded PDX – lucky for us they seemed to leave the dark side to join forces with their friends around the terminal.
