UM-Dearborn alumni who work on campus gathered for lunch last week to network and learn about alumni programming and initiatives. Currently, 190 UM-Dearborn employees also graduated from the university, accounting for about 16 percent of employees.
Debra Hutton looks to build partnerships across campus for student success as the university's new director of counseling and disability services. 
In Philosophy 399, associate professor of philosophy Maureen Linker challenges students to assess their own social biases. The goal? Discover how biases are related to structural inequalities that bolster social injustice. Her upcoming book, "Intellectual Empathy: Critical Thinking for Social Justice," aims to facilitate discussions of socially divisive issues.
Military Friendly School
UM-Dearborn recognized as Military Friendly School
UM-Dearborn has been named a Military Friendly School for the third consecutive year. The distinction is awarded to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country who are doing the most to support military students, according to Victory Media, which releases the annual list.
For Lynda Dioszegi, senior program adviser in the College of Business, nothing is more rewarding than knowing she's made a difference in a student's life. 
Applications for the first round of Campus Grants this academic year must be received in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (2066 IAVS) by 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 15.

The Dearborn Institutional Review Board is offering an outreach program that brings an IRB staff member onsite to academic units for individual, informal consultations with faculty, staff and students conducting human subjects research. These sessions are office hours during which the Dearborn IRB administrator is available to answer general or specific questions about current eResearch applications or the IRB approval process for research.
