UTK Nagpra Image Policy
In 1990, Congress passed the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), which recognized that all human remains “must at all times be treated with dignity and respect.” Thirty years later, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has approved a policy restricting the creation, reproduction, and publication of Native American cultural items and human remains.

Harper Taps Training and Support to Fund STEM Education Research

Frances Harper first tapped into the programs and services available through ORE at a new faculty orientation event in 2017. Three years later, that early connection has paid off—literally—with a recent $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation’s Computer Science for All program.

UTRF Inventor Spotlight Jonathan Hall
Amyloidosis is a rare disorder that occurs when an abnormal amyloid protein deposits in organs and tissues, interfering with their ability to function normally. Jonathan Wall has made it his mission over the last two and a half decades to study this rare disease and develop ways to diagnose and treat it.
Veterinarian providing care to dog
With two-thirds of American households having nonhuman family members, there is a critical need for affordable veterinary care. In 2017 Michael Blackwell began AlignCare to connect underserved individuals with veterinarians. Currently in four cities, the program recently received funding to expand to Reno, NV.
UT's Vols Vote Guide
Luis Mata, a senior political science major from Guadalajara, Mexico, is fulfilling his dream by attending UT. Not only was he the founder of Students for Migrant Justice, but he also plans to attend law school and focus on immigration law to continue empowering the local Hispanic community.
