Greetings, Friends,
On behalf of the team in Faculty Affairs & Development and the Stearns Center for Teaching and Learning, I want to welcome you back to George Mason University for the new academic year. We hope you have been able to find spaces for relaxation, connection, reflection, and rejuvenation over the summer -- and maybe still have a few of those spaces left to explore!
Our website has all the great information you’re used to: You might return to the Classroom Guide for information about and teaching strategies for your physical classrooms, check our resources or Events Calendar, or brush up on your strategies for teaching online.
Our team also looks forward to seeing or hearing from you: Perhaps at our August Adjunct Faculty Success Workshops, at our September 24-25 Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference, or as part of our support for faculty teaching with AI, STEM educators, SoTL researchers, writing instructors, graduate TAs, or anyone else curious about how to level up their teaching while having great conversations with colleagues.
Along with our partners (including the Office of the Provost, Faculty Affairs and Development, Writing Across the Curriculum, Mason Impact/Undergraduate Education/CECiL, Graduate Education, GradLife, University Libraries, and Information Technology Services) we wish you an excellent conclusion to your summer and an energizing start to your Fall 2026 semester!
E Shelley Reid, Ph.D.
Executive Director
