Leader, advocate, mentor – just a few words to describe our Associate Director of Development, Amy Slone.

We’re so happy to share that Amy was selected for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40. This honor celebrates the brightest young leaders making a difference in our community – an honor that certainly befits Amy.

ASSISTED LIVING WEEK

National Assisted Living week starts on September 12. Throughout the week we find special ways to celebrate and honor our residents, staff, families, volunteers, vendors and everyone involved in making assisted living at Warm Hearth Village great. Some of the specialties include a donut social, a five-course meal, a luau party,  painted friendship rocks class and a variety of special musical guests. Look on our Facebook page for fun photos to follow.

If you or a loved one is interested in assisted living, we have immediate availability in the Willows for Assisted Living Level 2 and we are here to help. Please call Linda Kirkner today at (540) 443-3415 to learn more.

CHEESEBURGER IN PARROT-DISE SURPASSES GOAL

Thanks to everyone who helped make the 8th annual Cheeseburger in Parrot-dise a huge success! Guests at the event grooved to the tunes of the ToneZ, sampled unique cheeseburger creations from Hethwood Market, Holiday Inn Christiansburg Blacksburg and Red Robin and bid on one-of-a-kind items and experiences in our silent auction. Congratulations to Hethwood Market for re-claiming the title of Cheeseburger Throwdown Champion with their Southern Market Burger, grilled to perfection and topped with pimento cheese, aioli and fried pickles! Special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Molina Healthcare and all the other businesses who sponsored the event and donated items for our silent auction!

This year not only did we surpass our goal but we raised the most money since the event’s inception -- $34,000.  Proceeds help the Warm Hearth Foundation carry out its many programs for seniors in need on our campus! We couldn’t be more grateful for the support of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and community – this wouldn’t have been possible without each one of you!  We hope to see you again next year.

RESIDENT QI GONG PRESENTATION

Qi Gong is an ancient method for cultivating vital energy, boosting circulation and maintaining a healthy body inside and out. Warm Hearth’s dedicated qi gong students, led by fellow resident Val DePillo, performed a series of “Brocades” (8 Ba Duan Jin forms and 30 Shaolin movements and postures) for guests.  It was quite a show of strength, balance and concentration.

Join our Body Activation class that mixes kundalini-inspired yoga, bar yoga, qi gong, and tai chi with general fitness movements every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 am.  Must be a fitness center member to join.
