Faith Christian School
June 26, 2020

Dear Faith Christian School family,

We trust that you have had a great beginning to your summer in the month of June. The office will be closed for the Fourth of July holiday until Tuesday, July 7.  This June has been one of the busiest Junes that I can ever remember.  We have had many interviews for new students as well as training and planning for the upcoming school year.  We are immensely thankful that graduations were able to take place and the sophomore play.  FCS has been blessed with a great family.

Obviously, the number one item on every one’s mind at this point is the opening of school.  Faith Christian School is planning to begin school on Wednesday, August 19.  As we stated at the end of May, we are preparing for students to return to campus for school. With the return to campus, the number one priority would be the safety of staff and students. We have been working on scenarios and plans for the safe education of students and staff while being on the campus.  We will be publishing these for parents as we move towards the month of August.  The information and possible scenarios are ever changing due to the ever changing circumstances around the virus. So, we are slow to release a full plan at this point.  After the Fourth of July break, we will be meeting with staff to discuss plans and address any possible modifications into a daily plan.  As soon as the full plan is finished, we will release it completely to the school family.  As we have learned over the last three months, the plan probably will change.  To be very clear, the safety of staff and students will be our number one priority.

Attached to this letter is the school one page calendar for the year.  We have reviewed it in view of the coronavirus and have made a few changes.  If situations warrant, we may have to change it further.  We do plan to attend the Wild’s camp in September and Teacher’s Convention.  In the event that any of these events were to be canceled, these days would become regular days of school.  We have planned sports schedules for the next school year.  We have to wait for guidance from state associations on sports related matters.

Please be reminded that any decision that Governor Cooper passes down for public schools does not have jurisdiction over non-public schools.  Schools such as FCS fall underneath the Division of Non-Public Education.  Non-public education leaves the closing/opening of school up to the individual non-public school.  For example, if Randolph County Schools start the school year online, this does not mean FCS has to follow the same procedure.  We typically follow the county schools for weather related closure but not for closures related to the coronavirus.

The Lord has blessed FCS with a very strong enrollment for the upcoming school year.  Our preschools do have openings for next year.  The school has had to close some classes due to them being full.  We do have a couple more that are getting close to full.  If you have friends interested, please encourage them to reach out to the school after the Fourth of July.

We trust that you have a great holiday with your family.  FCS will be keeping you updated starting after the Fourth of July break.
