The White House has recently announced $65.8 million in grant opportunities available through President Obama's Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) Initiative for Appalachian region local governments. The purpose of these grants is to develop new strategies for economic growth and worker advancement for communities that have historically relied on the coal economy for economic stability. Applicants for these grants are now invited to submit their proposals.
