Director of Youth Ministry

In a unanimous vote by the Congregational Assembly, Kendra McNatt was extended a Divine Call to the position of Director of Youth Ministry.

Born in Long Beach, California
Bachelors from University of North Florida (2010) Psychology, minor in Biology
DCE certification from Concordia University Nebraska

Ministry:

Currently installed as DCE Youth and Children Ministry at Trinity Lutheran - Frankfurt, Germany
(International Mission appointment ends in August)
Loves youth ministry – this is her real passion
Believes that ministry starts with relationships
Knows that each person’s faith journey is different
Passionate about discovering the gifts of God’s people and using them in ministry

The Habitat for Humanity work season begins Saturday, July 14th

A new home will be built next door to last year’s Habitat home in Waterloo. The home will be for Shanita and her daughter, Arion. Shanita moved from Georgia to Omaha four years ago. She and Arion cannot wait to move into their new home and they are already busy planning the décor for Arion’s first room of her own.

Divine Shepherd has a history of partnering with Habitat for their yearly build projects. This year we have four dates to provide volunteers and meals to the work site in Waterloo:
August 17 & 18 | October 12 & 13

New York Mission Trip

July 22-30

Join Pastor Sean on a trip to our partner church Immanuel Lutheran Church In Whitestone, Queens, New York this July.

This group will help host a community focused kids camp, work on several human care projects, experience multicultural church plants, as well as help film outreach ministries to help share and connect their stories to others. It will be a dynamic, multi-experiential trip that is sure to be a blessing to several neighborhoods. For a fun day, we will tour the city of Manhattan.

If you are interested, please plan to attend 1 of 2 informational meetings: Thursday, June 28 at 7pm or Sunday, July 1 at 9am - location TBA. Total cost depends on travel arrangements.

Message Series: Questions God Asks
We are all too familiar with the questions we have for God: Why is there so much suffering in the world? Why don’t you make my loved one well? Why don’t you stop evil things from happening? But have you ever thought of the questions God asks, like, “Where are you?” or “Why do you call me good?” or “Do you think I came to bring peace?” Why would God ask questions? What questions did Jesus ask? What do His questions reveal?
Join us this for worship this summer and bring your friends for, “Questions God Asks."

Door Offering will be collected for Habitat for Humanity - all services.
New Sunday Morning Adult Bible Study with Pastor Hannemann at 9am in the Chapel - “Pastor, what about…?” Topics will be solicited from the group each week and Pastor will prepare a lesson for the following week. We will take up a new topic each class.
Commissioning of 6 new Stephen Ministers at the 10am service.
