Pebble Beach Works its Magic on the Senior Golfers
The Senior Golfers returned to Pebble Beach, California, for the 23rd time in its history and found the area as stunning and iconic as ever. The event began with drinks and dinner overlooking the legendary 18th green of the Pebble Beach golf course. Newcomers Jacinta Dvorak, Janette & Tom Holley, and Susan Ralston were welcomed, and SGA Hall of Fame fellow Mary Ann Calvert was recognized.
After three spectacularly sunny and beautiful days of golf, Pennsylvanian John Visnick was winner at gross for the men, beating out Dale Moulton by just one stroke on the final day of play.  "I have loved it here at Pebble Beach," said John. "It was on my bucket list, and was a fantastic experience. Also, it was great to meet new people in SGA, and to play with different members. This was a very memorable week for Carole and me."
Lady winner was SGA Hall of Fame member Mary Ann Calvert. "I love these SGA events," said Mary Ann. "Dan and I have been on many, many trips with SGA. They always are well-run and enjoyable. We will be at St. Croix with the group, and on other trips next year. I recommend Senior Golfers of America to everyone!"
Low Net winners were Dale Moulton and Carole Sudar. Runners-up were Dan Calvert and Ellen Polokoff.  Susan Ralston had the most improved score, cutting her strokes by ten! Special awards for craziest circumstance on the golf course went to Tom Holley and Karen Lindsay, both of whose golf balls were stolen by seagulls on #10 on the Pebble Beach course.
Congratulations to all!

Christie, Janette, Cynthia & Monterey Jack

SGA FoGs (Friends of Golfers) Christie Moulton, Janette Holley, and Cynthia Swanson toured the Pebble Beach/Carmel/Monterey area with excellent local guide Sharon Thompson and learned quite a bit about the interesting history of the area.
For example, nearly every parcel of land on the Monterey Peninsula was once owned by a man named David Jacks. However, that's not why we all probably have used his name many times. While David Jacks didn’t invent the Monterey Jack cheese, he used his 14 dairy ranches and some clever marketing to attach his name to it. Soon customers were requesting the cheese that came from “Monterey Jack” — and the name stuck.
