An Uncle Was Right
I was referred by Emily's uncle, Michael, who lives in the Central Area and asked me to help his niece and her family find a home south of the ship canal. But when I met with the family (Emily, Lavender and Elizabeth) they said they wanted to be north of the Ship Canal. They were renting there and liked it and their friends were there. It was late spring, early summer, so the market was hot and interet rates were low. We looked and looked and got beat out a time or two in bidding wars.
A ways into the search I ran into the uncle in the Central Area and he said to me, "They should be looking around here?" He wanted his niece and family nearby. So, I suggested this to Elizabeth and family and we did look at several places in Columbia City and Mt Baker, but it was crazy times and we couldn't find anythig.
After a month or two, Michael saw an opportunity to steer things in the southerly direction. He heard the house just behind him was about to go onto the market. It was in good condition and had the layout and space that Elizabeth, Emily and Lavender were looking for. He convinced the sellers to give us a tour before listing and it was an excellent fit. That day we worked together on an offer and Elizbeth, Emily and Lavender got the house.
As it turns out, they are happy they moved south of the ship canal. They really enjoy the house and neighborhood and are very happy to have their helpful uncle nearby. They can walk to the PCC, they are near downtown, and there is good public transit.
