Dear Student Affairs Team Members,
What a semester! We celebrated Parent & Family Weekend at the end of October, and I was so encouraged by all the conversations I had with students and families. Our teams are doing an outstanding job supporting our students. Additionally, we spotlighted our Division by hosting various events — both for students who had family members on campus, and for students whose families could not attend. Thank you ALL for making the weekend possible.
As we approach the Winter Break period, here are a few reminders:
-
Earlier this semester I announced, “Career Conversations with Dr. G.” This is an opportunity for me to meet with staff in Student Affairs and offer insight on your career aspirations. The day will conclude with a social time at my home. For more information and to register today, see this website.
- Our next monthly Divisional meeting is slated for Wednesday, November 15 in Risa Commons on the South 40. Light refreshments begin at 8 a.m. with our meeting running from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Please note, we will not have a formal Divisional meeting in December.
-
If you are a staff member in Student Affairs, please plan to attend our Division of Student Affairs Winter Warm Up on Monday, December 18 at 3:30 p.m. in Holmes Lounge.
-
Please let our students know about our final Dr. G’s Fun House Event of the semester. It will be Tuesday, December 5, from 2-6 p.m. at the Sumers Recreation Center / Athletic Complex. Dr. G’s Fun House events were launched in Spring 2022 to offer high fun, low time commitment opportunities for students. If you’re free, feel free to stop in!
There is a lot of information in this month’s eNewsletter, including student stories, save the dates, and the opportunity to watch the WashU Women’s Soccer team play in the NCAA Tournament at home this weekend (for FREE)! Please make sure to explore and learn more about the great things happening in our Division.
Cheers,
|

| Lojain Elkhidir wants everyone to know that going to college is difficult. But more than that, she wants everyone to know that it’s ok to talk about it.
“Coming to college can be really isolating,” Elkhidir said. “You’re in a totally new environment, away from family; you don’t know anyone; and you’re tasked not only with surviving but succeeding in an academically rigorous environment. That can have an effect on you.”
That’s one reason Elkhidir is a Peer Health Educator (PHE). Read the full story here.
