The Tennessee State Monitor Advocate, Thomas Ayers, recently shared information about healthcare coverage for H-2A, H-2B, Migrant & Seasonal Farmworkers (MSFW), and other legally authorized agricultural workers through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that meet certain criteria. On November 1, qualifying workers can apply for 2026 coverage or update their application with any changes.
Eligible workers can obtain free or low-cost healthcare coverage under the ACA at no cost to their employers. The coverage would help with medical visits, prescriptions, and preventive care. "This is exactly the kind of solution we’ve been hoping to find: it helps farmers’ bottom lines and ensures workers can get the care they need without fear or stigma", says Ayers.
