Construction Update/Blessing of the Beams

We're pleased to announce construction on the new Innovation Center is going well. One of the first exciting phases of construction, the new Spirit Shop, is set to open in just a few weeks.  Guests will be able to access the Spirit Shop from the "S" parking lot, which is near the Welch Activity Center, making shopping more convenient than it's ever been at Cathedral! Be sure to watch for updates on our website and Facebook page.

A Blessing of the Beams for the Innovation Center will occur on Thursday, September 10. Students will sign beams during the day and Innovation Center Capital Campaign donors will gather later in the evening to celebrate the momentous occasion.
As with many things this year, we have adjusted the Luck of the Leprechaun Student Raffle.  The goal of this "remix" to what has been the annual student raffle will remain the same - to raise money to support our tuition assistance program. We will also still have a philanthropy fund that can be used by the student body to provide assistance to deserving groups of their choice.
The Luck of the Leprechaun Student Fundraiser runs September 4-September 30. Students will be tasked with raising a minimum of $250 online using a personal fundraising page. Families with multiple students at Cathedral will have their total family fundraising goal adjusted. Find out more details on our website.
We believe learning to give back is an important part of a young person's education, which helps establish a lifelong connection with philanthropy. Thank you for your support!

           2020 Circle of Excellence Inductees

Meet our 2020 Circle of Excellence Inductees!

                     Welcome, Class of 2024!

We were thrilled to host our Freshman Orientation, also known as Lughnasa, on Saturday, August 8. We used the football practice field to maintain proper social distancing while also getting to know the largest freshmen class we've had in quite a few years! Our 286 freshmen join us from 70 middle schools and 64 parishes in central Indiana. Congratulations to our Presidential Scholars, Cathedral Scholars, and Holy Cross Award winners from the Class of 2024! We are proud of all of you!
Special thanks to Katie Klee and Howie Fogel, co-directors of the Freshman Experience, for their hard work in making this event possible. Thanks also go to the admissions team, teacher volunteers, Father Jeff Godecker, Principal Julie Barthel, and President Rob Bridges. May God continue to bless the Class of 2024!

                    New Educator Orientation

During our New Educator Orientation, our new educators received a Cathedral history lesson from Melinda Bundy and enjoyed the Through2Eyes Walk and Talk Tour of Downtown with Sampson Livingston '13. Sister Mary Ann Stewart, Brother Bob Livernois, and Brother Roberto Jimenez also shared their vocations and faith.
Read more about each new educator and other great stories in the August issue of the online student newspaper, Megaphone. Our newest educator, Charonda Woods, joined the Cathedral staff after the newspaper staff published the issue. Mrs. Woods, who most recently taught in Lawrence Township, is teaching math at Cathedral. She has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education with Computer Endorsement from Indiana University, a Master of Science Education from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Master of Business Administration in Education Leadership from the University of Indianapolis. Welcome to all of our new educators!
                               All Educator Mass

"With eyes of faith, consider the greatness of your mission and the wonderful amount of good which you can accomplish." - Blessed Father Basil Moreau

Cathedral educators were back on campus on August 10 for orientation. Teachers and staff started our new school year celebrating mass with Father Jeff Godecker. Thank you, Fr. Jeff! The senior class chose the Holy Cross value of Excellence for this year's theme, and educators are ready to be excellent to each other and our students!

               Congratulations, Class of 2020!

We are so thankful Cathedral was able to honor the Class of 2020 with a Baccalaureate Prayer Service and Commencement on July 25. Our beautiful athletic facility, Brunette Park, was the perfect setting for the celebration! Thank you to the educators who put in countless hours to make this event possible. Thank you to the families for giving us the honor of educating the hearts and minds of an amazingly resilient group of young people. Thank you to our graduates for making Cathedral so proud! We want the Class of 2020 to know you're forever in our prayers, and forever Irish!
                                Camp Cathedral Success!

Congratulations to Camp Director Anthony Ernst and all camp counselors, coaches, and educators on a successful summer! More than 700 campers registered for our 22 athletic and 23 enrichment camps in July, and 34 registered for our virtual camps in June. While following strict safety protocols, campers had a great time exploring their passions and making new friends!
