The weather has finally begun to turn, and I was thrilled to wear a sweater this morning when I walked the sprinkler-loving twosome—Twinkles and Ernest. With Fall Break right around the corner, I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic with my birthday coming up and Halloween in three weeks.
Yesterday, I was fortunate to start the day with a breakfast meeting with Southwestern’s fabulous administrative assistants and, in addition to crispy bacon, the group shared some ideas for exchanging ideas, increasing training opportunities, and our favorite Halloween memories. The memories included making costumes for our kids and winning a SU’s music history class costume contest. All of this brings me to announce SU’s first University-wide favorite pet Halloween costume contest. This may be your wonderful cat, or, in my case, stubborn bulldogs, or maybe a pet rabbit—who knows? But it’s Halloween pet dress-up time, prizes will be given, so submit your scary-cute-weird-photographs here. The sweet surprise committee, whose membership insists on remaining a secret, will be the judges. Please send your best photographic work by October 31.
I wish you all well on your midterms, and from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight you can head over to the Bishops Lounge for a study spree where you can catch up on assignments and prepare for your exams. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Tomorrow, the Southwestern University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will host a free concert in the Alma Thomas Theater at 7:30 p.m. and this weekend, both the men’s and women’s soccer teams will be playing at home. Go Pirates!
And since we currently have a cow running around campus, I thought it would be appropriate to leave you with a video of another barnyard animal. Always give your best effort!
Looking forward to seeing you at Sweet Surprise on Thursday—fingers are crossed it's Bundt cake week; enjoy your break that begins this weekend, and I’ll see you all back on campus next week.
