2026 Commencement
Dear Parents, Families and Supporters of Graduates,

We are excited to welcome you to the University of Portland for Commencement Weekend.

This is one of the most meaningful moments in your student’s journey, and we are honored to celebrate alongside you on The Bluff.

As you prepare for your visit, please take a few minutes to review the important information below to help ensure an enjoyable experience for you and your family.
Before You Arrive
  • We expect large crowds throughout the weekend. Please plan to arrive early for all ceremonies.
  • Visit the Commencement website for the full schedule.
  • All ceremonies will be live-streamed, and we encourage you to share the link with family and friends who cannot attend.
Know Before You Go:
To help with entry efficiency and safety:
  • Bags larger than 12" x 12" x 6" are not permitted.
  • All bags are subject to search.
  • All guests will pass through a metal detector.
To speed up entry:
  • Bring only essential items.
  • Have bags open and ready for inspection.
  • Remove keys, phones, and metal items before screening.
Parking is available in campus lots on a first-come basis. Please note that parking in fire lanes or reserved spaces is not permitted.

A designated drop-off area is available near the East Plaza entrance for guests who need closer access.

On Sunday, additional parking is available at the Franz River Campus, with shuttle service running from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

You can tap the map to view directions to the River Campus parking lots. Signs and parking attendants will also be available to help direct you.

Language & Communication Access
  • Live Spanish and Mandarin translation and Tigrinya captions are available during all ceremonies.
  • Guests can access these services on their own device. We recommend bringing personal headphones for the best experience.
  • A limited number of headphones will be available at Guest Services in the main lobby.
Accessibility Resources
  • Wheelchairs will be available to borrow near the East plaza entrance. A limited number will be available; please return them as soon as you are finished.
  • We also have custom UP coloring books for your children or children at heart, available for pickup at the Guest Services Station in the main lobby.
Undergraduate Ceremony Commencement Tickets
Your student should have received their tickets yesterday. All tickets are “Print at Home” tickets. They will be delivered as a PDF and can be printed out or scanned on your phone.

All seats are reserved. Guests must sit in the seats that are on their tickets. Limited mobility (LM) tickets are the first two rows of a section. That would be rows 1 – 2 of sections with fold-down seats and rows 18 – 19 in the bleacher areas. All tickets were randomly assigned through the ticket system. There will be no changes to the assignments.
Livestream Viewing Option
For guests without a ticket to the Undergraduate Ceremony, a live viewing location will be available in the Buckley Center Auditorium. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and seating is first-come, first-served.
Additional Ceremonies
The Undergraduate Ceremony is the only event that requires tickets. All other Commencement events are open to guests and do not require tickets. View the full schedule.
