May Updates
D2L Brightspace Migration

Please read through all of the following information on our migration from Blackboard to D2L Brightspace.
Also, be sure to regularly check into our Faculty D2L Brightspace FAQ for updated information.

Summer 2022
Limited Brightspace Pilot + Blackboard

The Summer 2022 semester is almost here and with it will be the launch of our limited pilot semester in D2L Brightspace.  Thank you to the pilot faculty members who are taking the time to test drive this new system!

If you are not part of the Summer 2022 pilot group, you and your students will continue using Blackboard for the Summer 2022 semester.  You can request course copies for summer only on the Blackboard support ticket.

Fall 2022
Full Campus Launch

If you are a faculty member who has an active New Paltz account, you should now be able to access our official Brightspace site at newpaltz.edu/brightspace and also see your Fall 2022 course shells.
In Brightspace, you have the option to either start fresh and build your fall course(s) directly in Brightspace OR to request a copy of your materials from a previous Blackboard course.
We are in the process of converting four semesters of Blackboard courses into Brightspace: Winter 2022, Fall 2021, Summer 2021, Spring 2021.  We will send out additional correspondence on how to access these courses when they are available.
Beyond the courses from these semesters, if you would like to request that one or more additional courses be converted from Blackboard to Brightspace, you can do so through June 1, 2022.
How To Get Help:
If you need assistance logging in to Brightspace, please see the Brightspace Login article
If you can't login to Brightspace OR if you can't see your courses when you do log in, please submit a Brightspace support ticket for further assistance.

Fall 2022
Brightspace Training

If you are a faculty member teaching in any modality that includes an online component, you must complete the Core DLE Training on LinkedIn Learning before the start of your course.  Additionally, you must complete the Core Pedagogy Training by the end of the calendar year.
These trainings are strongly recommended to all teaching faculty regardless of modality in order to foster familiarity with the system.

When you access your Brightspace site, you'll also see an additional and optional training opportunity from SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) called "SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules."  Using this training does not replace the need to complete the Core DLE and Core Pedagogy trainings mentioned above.
