I love the energy on campus the week leading up to graduation — the warmer weather, families arriving and students savoring their final moments at Clemson before what comes next.

Our graduating seniors are heading off to make meaningful impacts, from pharmacy school and Ph.D. programs to teaching abroad, while others continue their journey right here in G&B. Meanwhile, our faculty are advancing research, building initiatives like EPICON and publishing in leading journals. Together, these efforts reflect the strength and momentum of our community.

Shayamalika Gopalan’s lab seeks to understand the factors that drive patterns of human phenotypic variation.

New research by assistant professor and member of the Institute of Human Genetics Shyamalika Gopalan and collaborators from France show many epigenetic clocks, which are a tool used to measure someone's age using DNA, may not tell time well for some populations.

Yashvi Patel is a Clemson University senior double majoring in biochemistry and psychology.

Yashvi Patel spent the past summer at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, completing a clinical research internship focused on stroke treatment, reviewing patient data in neurocritical care to analyze patterns. 

After more than a dozen years of working independently (around Clemson), EPIC is partnering with universities across the globe.

The Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center (EPIC), which is one of Clemson’s largest research centers, has joined with partners from around the world to form EPICON, the Eukaryotic Pathogens International Consortium. Aside from EPIC, founding members of EPICON include the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, the University of Ghana and Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador.

Shahid Mukhtar chaired and presented at a plenary session on "single cell and spatial biology" at the American Society of Plant Biologists, held in Madison, Wisconsin. Read more about this and other invited events.

Heidi Anderson and Meredith Morris, along with Rhonda Powell from Clemson Light Imaging Facility published "Ultrastructural expansion microscopy reveals unexpected levels of glycosome heterogeneity in African trypanosomes" in the Journal of Microscopy. Read more about this and other publications.
