Center for Clinical Research (CCR) UPDATES |
Clinic SOPs Available Online |
CCR Clinic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are posted on the ACTRI website, giving study teams direct access to the procedures that govern clinic operations without needing to request them individually. The SOPs cover visit conduct, specimen handling, infusion procedures, and other day-to-day research clinic processes.
Study teams are encouraged to review the SOPs relevant to their protocols, particularly during study start-up and when onboarding new coordinators. Referencing the current version helps ensure alignment between protocol requirements and research clinic operations.
The SOPs will be updated as processes evolve, so we recommend accessing them directly from the website rather than saving local copies.

Gene Therapy Studies: BUA Required for Clinic In-Service |
Study teams conducting gene therapy studies must provide the Biological Use Authorization (BUA) at the time of the Clinic In-Service Request. Gene therapy studies will automatically require an in-service. Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) representation, Investigation Drug Services (IDS) staff, and the PI are all required to attend gene therapy or complex study in-services. Please plan accordingly when building your study start-up timeline, as coordinating attendance across these groups may take additional lead time.

Contact Information on Nursing Orders |
Please confirm that current study coordinator contact information — name, phone, and email — is included on all clinic nursing orders, as outdated contacts can cause delays at the time of the visits when ACTRI nurses and clinic staff need to reach the study team.
PI and Sub-Investigator names and contact information is required to be listed on the nursing orders, as well. This is especially important in the event that clinic staff may need to reach a physician quickly for dosing questions or an adverse event. Please see screenshot below of where to update and add contact information on the nursing orders template. Questions regarding the nursing orders can be directed to ctri-clinic@health.ucsd.edu.

CCR at the 2026 UC San Diego Technology Summit |
On August 28, CCR joined research cores and groups from across UC San Diego at the 2026 Technology Summit. Our team hosted a table throughout the event, meeting with investigators and study teams to answer questions about the services CCR offers across the Clinic, Clinical Research Coordinators, and Clinical Trial Support Services.
The Summit was organized around a simple premise: campus cores do better work when they know what each other offers. Conversations at our table ranged from study start-up support and coordinator staffing to invoicing and regulatory services — and several led to follow-up discussions already underway.
Thanks to the CCR staff who represented us at the event!
