Wonders & Worries Newsletter - March 2016
The Baumgart Family Story
“I just wasn’t sure what the future would hold and how to explain cancer, chemo, side effects, and seeing mommy sick, to my kids.”
–Jen Baumgart
Jen Baumgart was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in May 2015. As a Hospice Social Worker, Jen had already been aware of Wonders & Worries. After her first appointment with her oncologist, she called and made an appointment for her children to meet with a Wonders & Worries child life staff member.
Donor Highlight:
Gloria Seidlin-Bernstein
“If only Wonders & Worries had been available to my family!”

When Gloria Seidlin-Bernstein retired in 2011 from her position at the Texas School for the Deaf, she wanted to give back to society in new ways. Volunteering at Wonders & Worries was an organization at the top of the list.

Thank You!

We had another record breaking year of FUN and fundraising. Through the incredible generosity of our sponsors and guests, we raised more than $260,000 to provide professional support for children through a parent's illness. This will allow us to serve 86 families with a full year of Wonders & Worries therapeutic services.

Monthly Therapeutic Tip
Coping Kits
One of the best loved activities at Wonders & Worries is when children get to make their own coping kit filled with reminders and tools to help them release their stress and feel better--bubbles to blow those bad feelings away, stress balls to squeeze, journals to draw or write in, a pinwheel to practice deep breathing with, bubble wrap to pop angers out, and tissues to use for tears.

Children for Charity:
Kids Helping Kids
During the month of April, Velocity Credit Union will donate $5 to Wonders & Worries for every $1,000 deposited through Velocity’s Youth Club! Created especially for young savers, the Youth Club was designed to promote good saving habits among children to help them grow up to be financially responsible adults.
Thank You SMPS!
The Society for Marketing Professionals and Services held a lip sync battle at their Southern Regional Conference to raise money for local charities. This fun group raised more than $1,800 for Wonders & Worries! Thank you SMPS for your support of Wonders & Worries and the families we serve!
Consider making an investment in the mission of Wonders & Worries so we can provide more professional support for children through a parent's illness.
