Upcoming retreats
February 14 - 21 Seven-day retreat with Wayne Coger
In an extraordinary talk in November, Wayne invited serious questioning, and inquired deeply into judging; why it happens, and who or what is it that judges. He asks if there might be a goodness that doesn't rely on judgment, on ideas of good and bad a good that has no opposite. Towards the end of the talk, he questions, "Is it possible to sit, to listen, to wonder "What is it?" and not know? To listen, to be aware, to breathe, to ache or not ache, and wonder anew,  "What is it? Is there something, anything that is separate?"  If you would like to hear the entire talk simply open the link.  And, you may read a recent article by Wayne titled Sorrow and Beauty.
Wayne has been a steadfast presence at the Center since 1983. He has a deep interest in meditative work and a love for working with people in both day-to-day life and retreat. If you have an interest in meditation and inquiry, space is available in this retreat. Please apply here.

February 22 - March 6 - Quiet WeeksAn extended retreat may be created by combining the Quiet Weeks with the February and March retreats, or simply stay as a guest for all or part of the period. During Quiet Weeks there are many opportunities to meet and dialogue with others. Staff participate in their normal work, while the sitting room and solarium areas remain in silence and the entire building is in silence after hours. Note: the February 28th All-Day Sitting descibed below takes place during the Quiet Weeks. Please contact reception to register to stay during the Quiet Weeks. See Quiet Weeks information.
March 7 - 14 - Seven-Day Retreat with Sandra Gonzalez
Sandra returns to Springwater after a two-month absence and will be available for group and private meetings in this retreat, as well as giving daily talks. Sandra was born in Nicaragua, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. She resides in Springwater for most of the year. See more information about Sandra including access to samples of her talks and articles on her website page.

Talk by Toni Packer from the Archive
This month's featured talk by Toni is from day 6 of the Feburary 1999 retreat. She speaks on why she calls the "me" an illusion; the urge to survive and defend; conditioned ideas of right and wrong; and goes into the question of  "What is community?" This year's three-day January retreat participants will be hearing this talk; you too may hear it by using this link. The photo from 2008 shows Toni with Deb Lewis (now on staff as the Center cook.)
