Jesse Fenton - PDX night watch driver
Jesse Fenton Jumps Up to Help
Jesse Fenton (he/him) with SP Plus Corporation was nominated by two different PDX travelers.
Nomination 1: "My flight was late arriving at PDX, and I needed to make it out to my car in the blue economy lot. Unfortunately, I wrote the lane number down incorrectly.
The shuttle driver tried to help me find my car, but when it wasn’t in the lane, he suggested I ask Jesse, the night watch driver. Jesse called the office and found a recorded lane that matched my license plate. It was very late and dark by this time, and he stayed with me until I found and started my car.
Thank you for offering this helpful service and hiring wonderful employees like Jesse. I am so grateful."
Nomination 2: "Last night, Jesse came to our rescue and jump started our Prius. It was nearly midnight, and we were exhausted – and then distraught – to discover a dead battery. Within 15 minutes of our request for help, Jesse arrived in his truck with a great attitude and a pair of jumper cables. He knew exactly how to jump start a Prius and guided us through the process to ensure the battery would fully charge.
I don't know what he gets paid working the graveyard shift, but last night it was not enough to compensate him for his help! Thank you, Jesse, and thank you, PDX parking!"

What's New with PDX Next: A Look Behind the Scenes
The upcoming holidays mean a short week for construction activities. In lieu of the usual list of impacts, here are some behind-the-scenes photos.
The top photo shows terrazzo flooring being installed in some areas of the new main terminal.
The bottom photo shows roof utility enclosures being picked and installed up on the roof itself. A big lift, literally and figuratively!

Being Prepared for Unexpected Emergencies
As you may know, last week a women exited a restroom next to the pre-security area of the D/E TSA checkpoint and fired shots from a handgun into the air. Passengers, employees and construction personnel in the area took cover, and there were no injuries sustained. The woman was taken into custody by Port Police within minutes, and detectives are now working on the investigation
This event also highlights the need to be prepared for unexpected emergencies, so here are some ways for you to stay knowledgeable:
Please reach out to your manager to connect with their Port liaison with any questions.

It's Getting Busy at PDX!
Airports are bustling over the holidays, but more travelers shouldn’t mean more stress, especially with PDX People around to help.
Holiday travel is officially underway, and we expect nearly 240,000 travelers to pass through our airport over the long Thanksgiving weekend (Wednesday – Sunday). Sunday, Nov. 26, will be the busiest day, with approximately 55,000 passengers coming and going.
We're encouraging travelers to arrive early and check parking before they head out. Read the new release for tips you can share with family and friends to make their experience as relaxed as possible.

PDX Adds Nonstop Nashville Flights on Alaska Airlines
Early next year, look forward to nonstop flights from the Rose City to the Music City – Nashville, Tenn. The daily, year-round service begins March 14, and Alaska will be the only airline with flights between the two cities. This isn't the only new service starting at PDX in November: Both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines started their daily, year-round nonstop flights to Miami; Alaska started seasonal winter service to Redmond/Bend; and Allegiant started twice weekly, year-round nonstop service to Mesa, Arizona.

PDX is Doubling Our Energy Efficiency. Here’s How.
We Pacific Northwesterners have a certain reputation for going hard on environmental sustainability. Driving 55 in a 60-mph zone to save gas. Composting every vegetable scrap that leaves our kitchens. When it comes to pursuing energy efficiency in the name of sustainability, PDX is just like your household...only a lot bigger. So when we designed our new main terminal, we found ways to expand the airport’s size while doubling the building’s energy efficiency and cutting our use of fossil fuels by 95%. Here’s how we scaled your household efficiencies way, way up.
