Happy Thursday! My name is Kathryn Mulholland. I am an assistant professor of the practice in the Department of Mathematics. I teach Calculus I and Calculus II for the Mary E. Galvin Science and Engineering Scholars, so many of you have been in my class.
A little bit about me: I grew up in California in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was a student-athlete at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, where I received my BS in Mathematics and played on the Women's Lacrosse Team. I received my masters and PhD in Mathematics from Notre Dame, and became faculty in 2020.
Some frequently asked questions:
How did you meet Brian? I met my husband, Brian Mulholland, in graduate school. He gave me a tour of campus in 2014. We were married in 2018, and are expecting our first child this December. :)
Do you speak Spanish? Sí, un poquito. Mi abuelo era mexicano pero nunca le enseñó español a mi mamá. Así que lo aprendí en la escuela.
Hobbies? I really love cooking, hiking, and playing sports. My most recent culinary adventure has been making homemade pasta and my most recent hiking trip was last summer in the Alps in Switzerland (Bernese Oberland) and Italy (Dolomites).
I am a huge advocate of the Mary E. Galvin Science and Engineering Scholars program because of the small class sizes and extra problem solving sessions. It is truly such a pleasure to be a part of the community you have built here at Notre Dame and to foster your mathematical creativity.
If you see me on campus, please say hi!
