Welcome to the

District 8 Newsletter.

At the beginning of each month, I will be sending out a quick update on progress made the month before and scheduled activities for the month at hand.
This first newsletter is going to everyone on our mailing list.  If you would like to continue getting this monthly update, please be sure to click the blue button to Sign Up for District 8 News. If you do not, you will not receive the information in this format.
If announcements or things of interest to the community come up that need sharing in between, I will provide that to you as well.

SEPTEMBER 2015

I was sworn in on the 22nd by Judge Lynda Jones and also enjoyed the amazing Inauguration Vice Mayor David Briley and Mayor Megan Barry on the 25th.
All new councilmembers have had some quick on-the-job training and we are off to a great start.
Former Councilwoman Karen Bennett has been helpful in the transition as has our neighboring council friends, Councilman Anthony Davis in District 7 and Councilman Bill Pridemore in District 9.
I have met with, and will continue to meet with, several departments including; Metro's Water Services, Planning, Zoning, MDHA, Transit Authorities etc.
Special shout out to the good neighbors on North Graycroft Ave for their tireless patience as Madison Suburban Utility, and their contractors, complete the proper drinking water testing, taping and switch-overs to your new line.  Work continues from East Campbell to OHB. I was informed that you were bringing food and drink to the workers through their 24 hours shifts last weekend.  Your hospitality makes all of us in District 8 proud neighbors.

COMMITTEE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Vice Mayor David Briley has appointed the Committees and their Chairs.
I can't be more honored than to have been appointed the Chair of the Convention, Tourism & Public Entertainment Facilities Committee. Visit Music City
In addition to growing our amazing hospitality to Music City visitors, you will see a focus to keep Nashville the BEST Stay-cation that those of us who live here can possibly imagine.  This will serve our District 8 well as we seek to re-establish ourselves as a destination for housing, jobs and entertainment.
I will also be serving on these committees:
-- Parks, Library & Recreation
-- Health, Hospitals & Social Services
